The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series returns to Sonoma Raceway on June 21-23 for the 2019 Toyota/Save Mart 350. To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Sonoma Raceway will return to the circuit’s historic 12-turn, 2.52 mile course. This roadway-style course is famous for its downhill corner known as “The Carousel”.
Although the name is sweet, The Carousel makes for a wicked ride. The raceway plunges from Turn 4, down through Turns 5 and 6. Then, racers must navigate a 200-degree radius turn, before dropping onto the track’s longest straightaway in preparation for the the Turn 7 hairpin. NASCAR has utilized a shortened version of the track since 1998, making this year’s longer race the first to drive The Carousel in over twenty years.
This year’s Pre-race Show is going to be epic! The show features a legends chat with Ernie Irvan, Richard Childress, and Hershel McGriff. Additionally, fans will enjoy a Patriots Jet Team six-jet air show, an aerial stunt performance, sky divers, driver introductions, and an F-15 flyover!
