An Animal Adventure at the Sacramento Zoo

Reptiles, mammals, and more … oh my! Do you plan to visit Sacramento during your RV rental trip through California? If so, be sure to take time to explore all the amazing creatures at the Sacramento Zoo. The zoo is a great attraction for people of all ages and group sizes. Here’s what you need to know about the Sacramento Zoo.

Animals & Attractions

The Sacramento Zoo sits on about 14.5 acres and is home to over 600 exotic, rare, and endangered animals from around the world. You can get up close to a Sumatran orangutan, learn about the yellow-banded poison dart frog, or observe the family of African lions. Note that due to conservation efforts, some of the animals are only brought out for viewing for special shows or educational programming.

Additionally, you can take part in a giraffe encounter, make time to see one of the animal shows, or take the self-guided art tour. Be sure to also check out what events may be happening at the zoo, because you may be able to take part in some fun, seasonal programming.

Admission

The Sacramento Zoo’s admission rates are quite reasonable:

  • General admission (ages 12-64): $11.75
  • Kids (ages 2-11): $7.75
  • Seniors (age 65+): $11.00
  • Children (ages 0-1): Free

Note that you will need to purchase and print your tickets prior to arrival at the zoo. The zoo rides or special encounters may cost extra. Be sure to also check out the Sacramento Zoo’s website for seasonal hours.

Getting There

The Sacramento Zoo is located just south of Downtown Sacramento and offers free parking in Land Park. You may want to arrive early to make sure you can find a spot for your RV rental, or if you’re towing a personal vehicle, we recommend that you leave your motorhome rental at the campsite and just drive downtown.

If you’re looking for Sacramento accommodations, consider booking an RV rental from Advantage Caravans and staying at a local campground or state park. You can find many Sacramento area attractions to enjoy, and an RV rental gives you the flexibility you need to see it all.

To find out more about a Sacramento RV rental or travel trailer rental, contact Advantage Caravans at 916-832-8824, or make a reservation online.
