The NASA (National Auto Sport Association) 25 Hours of Thunderhill was canceled for 2020, but is back on for 2021, with an extra 25 minutes added to the race! There has been renewed interest in this race, especially with the cancellation of last year’s event. It’s a difficult and unpredictable race, but that is precisely what draws participants in each year. It is the ultimate team challenge where multiple factors will lead to success, and the teams work hard all year long to prepare for it. NASA will announce one overall winner and six class winners on December 5, 2021. 

Important Rules

There are some important administration, safety, and vehicle requirement rules that participants must review for eligibility in this race. The complete list of all rules and regulations can be found on the NASA website, but here are just a few:

  • No driver or crew member may drive on the east track at Thunderhill Raceway from November 18th through December 3rd. There will be testing on Thursday and Friday before the event.

  • All teams must check-in with NASA Registration, which will be open from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m on Friday at Thunderhill Raceway. 

  • All drivers must utilize a head and neck restraint device carrying an FIA 8858-2002 (or higher) certification or an unexpired SFI 38.1 or certification. 

  • All vehicles must display four NASA decals while on the track. Decals from other sanctioning bodies are prohibited.

In order to register your RV for the 2021 NASA 25 Hours of Thunderhill event, you must fill out an online form. The campgrounds are located in turn 1 of the track, and space is limited. The spaces include electricity hookup only, but you won’t have to worry about water or sewer services with an RV rental from Advantage Caravans.
