You’re ready to plan your next getaway—an RV excursion up the California coast. However, as you browse through your RV options, you cannot decide whether a motorhome or a travel trailer rental is best. Don’t fret. Our crew at Advantage Caravans has put together these tips for finding the RV that’s right for you.

RV Rental Tips

1. Determine your budget.

You have probably heard the quote by Benjamin Franklin that “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” To make sure you don’t overspend on your RV rental, set an overall vacation budget. Then, you can decide just how much of your budget you want to spend on your RV. Your rental budget then will help eliminate models that are too pricey.

2. Count your beds.

Each motorhome accommodates a certain number of passengers. We recommend that instead of counting heads, count how many beds you will need. While some of our motorhomes may have sleeping space for (let’s say) 8, two of those beds may be queen- or full-size, and no one wants to share. Therefore, determine just how many beds you need for your group.

3. Consider the campsite.

Do some research so you know what your campground has in terms of hookups, shower facilities, and so on. If the site is rustic, you may not want to get the top-of-the-line RV if you can’t enjoy features like the TV/DVD player or kitchen appliances without electricity. Instead, you may opt for a more basic travel trailer that you’ll use for lodging alone.

4. Know before you tow.

Some people just don’t like (or don’t have experience with) towing a travel trailer. If you’re uncertain about your abilities or just don’t want to mess with it, then you may want a motorhome instead of a travel trailer.
